OGT is done with raiding as of today.

It has been creeping up on us for some time now and finally there is no denying it - we have a lot of people retiring from raiding for various reasons and simply not enough people left to continue making it happen considering the lack of recruiting depth on the server. We have a lot of talented and dedicated raiders here but we don't have the will and desire to recruit a ton of people, train them, teach them and spend weeks or months getting little done while we try to rebuild. We all like to play hard, be successful and play with excellent compatriots and that just isn't going to continue to happen here.

My tenure as OGT leader this time round was short and I will confess that presiding over the collapse of the raiding core is not the legacy I had hoped for. That said, I am happy that we did as well as we did and I have enjoyed raiding with all of you immensely over the years. We established a home for all kinds of people to come and play games together and I think the fact that so many great people came back again and again even though they have no RL connection to the officer group is a testament to how successful we were at making this guild a great place to play. I want to thank all the people who played with us from our first wipes to Attumen in 2006 to our Magmaw heroic kill just a few weeks ago. 5 years of raiding together is a damn lot and we must have saved the world from total annihilation a few hundred times by now and have collected a truly epic sized pile of shiny loot along the way.

I will miss raiding with my friends, both those I know IRL and those who I only know through the context of WOW. The moments of "HAHAHA DIE YOU BASTARD!" being screamed out on vent as a boss finally keels over are things I will remember for a good long time - most of all when I stood over Illidan's smoking corpse and said "No, you were not prepared!" I will not forget Hobo yelling out "Punch this chick in the junk!" when we engaged a boss nor us joining Sartharion's minions in mocking him as we pulled Sarth + 3 for the umpteenth time in a night.

Many of the officers have elected to stop raiding for now at least, maybe forever. Most of the raiders want to continue, together if possible, so I am attempting to arrange a transfer of those who still want to raid, including myself, over to cohors praetoria. OGT is not going to vanish as there will still be lots of alts and casuals, former raiders and 5 man groups around but we are no longer going to be a raiding guild. Everyone currently in the guild is welcome to stay or try to join the exodus to cohors depending on your preferences. I will make a separate thread for cohors transfer details.
